Susan G. Komen Maryland

Art Direction / Copywriting / Creative Direction

The brief

Create a multi-channel awareness campaign to inform Susan G. Komen donors in Maryland that their donations have far greater local impact when they donate directly to the Komen Maryland chapter. 75% of donations made locally stayed in Maryland, whereas only 25% of donations made to the national chapter stayed in Maryland.

The solution

We took a very direct approach featuring actual local breast cancer survivors stories, “Support Your Local Breasts”. This was bold, attention-grabbing campaign that made a serious point: if you want your dollars to fight breast cancer and support breast cancer survivors here in Maryland, keep them here.

BONUS: Shoot for the Cure

Working on this campaign inspired me to parlay the creative and marketing experience into breast cancer fund-raising action with an event called “Shoot for the Cure.” This was a skeet shooting based fund raising event held at a local, public skeet shooting range. The event was open to everyone—regardless of shooting experience—offering free lessons, raffles, and ability to collect donations for Komen MD.
