Leadership

As a people leader, Jason has cultivated a high-performing team. They know his expectations, trust his leadership, and deliver work that reflects a culture of creative quality balanced with business outcomes.”

Senior Director (my boss), Kaiser Permanente

I lead from the front and build for the long game.

I have a simple belief: people do their best work when they feel safe enough to be curious, be silly, and even fail. My team knows they won’t be punished for a swing that doesn’t connect. I’d rather pull back a wild, brilliant idea than push a timid idea forward. That’s how the work stays fresh — and the organization benefits.

I’m a player-coach by nature. I stay in the creative conversation — thinking alongside my team, questioning briefs, pushing concepts further — making sure I’m growing people, not just the work.

I don’t chase awards or trophies, I chase outcomes. Success is measured in enrollment numbers, CTRs, and growth. Bold creative and business results aren’t in opposition. Doing both is the job.

I don’t submit work and wait for permission. I present bold, strategically grounded work and make recommendations.

I’m wired to spot operational gaps as much as creative ones. I’ve stood up web development capabilities, ADA accessibility programs, and enterprise brand systems from scratch. I saw what was needed and got to work.

Whether it’s a campaign, a capability, or a culture, my instinct is always the same: identify the problem, create a plan, and achieve the goal.

Who's Jason?

jason_sketch

Call me Jason, JJ, or J. I’m a Senior Creative Manager at Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States, and lead a kick-ass, award-winning creative team.

I started my creative career working in ad agencies as an art director, copywriter, and creative director. In 2013, I shifted to in-house creative roles, with my first stop as a Senior Art Director at Capital One Bank. From there, I joined Kaiser Permanente as an Associate Creative Director, leading a talented team that helps the organization achieve its business goals.

Outside of work, I’ve always been drawn to the water — salt water in particular. I grew up on boats and even served in the Coast Guard Reserve. My happy place is just about anywhere I can get a good whiff of salt air. I’m also a nationally ranked skeet shooting champion and a big DIYer — if something can be built, fixed, or tinkered with, chances are I’ll give it a shot.

I live in an old house in the Greater Baltimore area with my wife, two college-age stepkids, our three-legged German shepherd, Starla, and two cats, Reggie and Ruby. Suffice it to say, there’s never a boring day here.

Senior Director, Kaiser Permanente, 2019

“I am especially proud of how Jason led the evolution of our web property development from a new capability to established competency. This evolution meant that our partners gained the confidence to explore new methods of reaching their audiences and avoid the expense of outside agencies creating digital destinations to support their campaigns.”
